Mustangs alumna embarks on basketball career in Germany

Western women's basketball all-time leading scorer Amanda Anderson is about to embark on a career professionally in Germany in her sport. The 23-year-old native of Dover Centre, Ont., near Chatham took some time recently to share her thoughts on a career which made her the No. 2 career scorer in OUA history.

Q: What are you doing for the summer?
A:
Receptionist

Q: What is your current major and concentration at Western?
A:
 I just finished a major in psychology
 
Q: Are you returning to Western for 2010-11?
A: 
No

Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: a) Athletically:
I will be playing professionally in Europe (read more)
b) Career: I want to work in mental health and addictions

Q: What is your fondest memory at Western? 
A:
I would never be able to pick just one... probably choosing to go to Western because my time there was unforgettable.

Q: What is your fondest memory as a Mustang? 
A:
Winning that first playoff game after the curse on our first round defeat.

Q: Who was the biggest influence during your time at Western? 
A:
Professor James Olson.  If I didn't have him to help me out over the years and guide me, I don't know where i would be.

Q: What other offers/options were you presented with when choosing a post-secondary instituion? 
A:
Penn State and a few other schools around the OUA.     

Q: What would you say to someone thinking about considering Western for post-secondary institution? 
A:
That they're crazy if they want to go somewhere else.  Western is the institution with everything going for it.

Q: Years remaining at Western: 
A:

Q: What is your most embarrassing moment as a Mustang? 
A:
I've had a few, I'm a big blonde some would say.  But the most would be accidentally breaking coach (Stephan) Barrie's window by trying to scare him.

Q: Who is your funniest teammate or coach during your time at Western? 
A:
Jacklyn Selfe.

Q: Who is your teammate who is most likely to succeed in your sport? 
A:
Jenny Vaughn

Q: Do you have any superstitions or rituals (pre-game, in-game or post-game)? 
A:
I like to eat a bagel from Great Canadian Bagel, (and) always drink a Red Bull during the games. But post game it doesn't matter to me... hopefully a trip to the Ceeps after a Saturday night win.
